Outstanding Medical Student in Michigan Award
The Outstanding Medical Student in Michigan Award recognizes student members of MAFP for academic excellence, leadership, service, and dedication to pursuing a career as a family physician.
This is a self-nomination process. Medical students can complete the online application with a video or written submission. One letter of support is required and should be submitted in the online form.

Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time student at an accredited medical school in Michigan
- MAFP student member in good standing
- Demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, service, and dedication to pursuing a career as a family physician
- One letter of support from a faculty member of the family medicine department of your campus OR a practicing family physician you have experience with. The letter of support should focus on how the nominee meets the selection criteria.
Selection Criteria
- Enhances the quality of the community by being directly and effectively involved in community affairs and activities.
- Acts as a leader within their medical school and among medical students.
- Stands out among peers.
- Showcases a passion for the specialty of family medicine.
- Sets personal and education goals related to advancing in family medicine
