Recognizing and Addressing Eating Disorders: A Guide for Outpatient Primary Care

Eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, are prevalent and serious, with anorexia having the second highest mortality rate of any mental health disorder. As primary care physicians, it is crucial to recognize the signs of eating disorders and understand how to support patients in their treatment journey. Although these conditions are widespread, training on this topic remains minimal in most medical schools and residency programs. This session will equip family physicians with essential knowledge and tools to address eating disorders effectively.
