OMT for the MD: Tackling Low Back, Hip, and Pelvic Pain

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common challenges faced in primary care, often requiring a well-rounded, multi-disciplinary approach. This session highlights how Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) can be a transformative tool for MD’s and DO’s in managing LBP effectively. By examining the biomechanical factors contributing to pain, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy of the lumbar spine, hip, sacrum, and pelvis, laying the groundwork for more accurate diagnoses and targeted treatments.  Attendees will explore strategies to build a comprehensive differential diagnosis for low back, hip, sacral, and pelvic pain, while developing practical examination techniques to identify the root causes. The session will also demonstrate how to translate biomechanical findings into actionable treatment plans and seamlessly integrate OMT into patient care. By the end of this hands-on experience, providers will feel empowered to elevate their approach to LBP, improving outcomes and enhancing their clinical practice.
