Michigan Future of Family Medicine Conference: Sponsor, Exhibitor & Volunteer Information
Sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers are key to the success of the Michigan Future of Family Medicine Conference & Residency Connection. Now in its eleventh year, this annual conference provides opportunities for medical students to explore the breadth and depth of the family medicine specialty, connect with residency programs, network with family physicians to discover career options, and learn and practice clinical skills.
Below is information about how residency programs and other organizations, family medicine faculty, family physicians, and family medicine residents can get involved in this one-day event on Saturday, Sept. 14, in Novi, Michigan, to advance the future of family medicine.
Up to 120 medical students are expected to attend this in-person conference.
Residency Program Exhibitor
Register your residency program to have a booth at the Residency Connection fair.
The timing of this conference is ideal to connect with fourth-year students as a “last look” before applications are available for reviewing. The conference is also open to first-, second-, and third-year medical students.
Time:
- Check-in and Booth Set-up: 10 am-12 pm
- Booths Open: 12:30-2:30 pm
- Take-down: 2:30-3 pm
Cost: $400
- 2 hours of dedicated exhibit time to connect with students
- 8’ table (bring your own tablecloth, signage, give-away materials for 120 medical students)
- 2 chairs
- Complimentary lunch for up to 3 booth representatives
- Participation in Booth Bingo, to drive booth traffic
- Promotion in pre-conference communications
- Promotion in event app prior to, during, and after the conference
Non-Residency Program Exhibitor
The conference Residency Connection time includes opportunities for other organizations to share information, goods, and/or services with medical students.
Time:

Cost: $500

Family Medicine Career Options Small Group Discussion Leader
Over the course of nearly two hours, lead seven small group discussions (approximately 8 students per 10-minute discussion) and answer questions about your subspecialty/special area of interest. The goal is to increase students’ awareness of the breadth and depth of family medicine and the many career options available to family physicians.
Time:
- Check-in: 8 am
- Seven, 10-minute discussions: 8:30-9:50 am (allows for “passing time” for students to move to the next subspecialty table)
- Complimentary breakfast

Clinical Workshop Lead Instructor / Coach
Serve as the lead instructor or coach during three, 40-minute hands-on workshop sessions where medical students (approximately 40 per session) will learn and practice one of the following procedures; one lead instruction and four coaches per workshop are sought. Residency programs volunteering for lead instructors must be an exhibitor.
- Punch and Shave Biopsy
- Suturing
- Women’s health procedure
Instructing includes:
- Providing all materials for approximately 120 students (final number will be provided one week prior to the conference)
- Giving a presentation to introduce students to the clinical procedure and teach them how to perform the procedure
- Providing one-on-one coaching as students practice the procedure
- Answering students’ questions
- Preparing PowerPoint slides and electronic handouts, if applicable
- Complimentary lunch
- Networking with colleagues from other residency programs
- Increased awareness of your residency program
Coaching includes:
- Assisting the lead instructor
- Providing one-on-one coaching as students practice the procedure
