Michigan Family Medicine Resident of the Year

2024 FM Resident of the YearThe Michigan Family Medicine Resident of the Year award is presented to residents who exhibit qualities of exemplary patient care, demonstrate leadership, display a commitment to the community, contribute to scholarly activity, and are dedicated to the specialty of family medicine.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominee must be a resident member of MAFP at the time of their nomination; previously nominated residents who were not selected are eligible for reconsideration (re-nomination required)
  • Nominee must be currently practicing family medicine in Michigan
  • One letter of support from the nominee's residency program director. If residency program director is the nominator, the letter of support must be from a different residency program faculty member. Support letters should focus on how the nominee meets the selection criteria of the award.

Selection Criteria

  • Provides patients with compassionate, comprehensive and caring family medicine on a continuing basis.
  • Actively contributes to the community's well-being through meaningful involvement in local affairs and activities.
  • Stands out among peers.
  • Supports equitable and evidence-based medicine for all Michiganders.

How to Submit a Nomination

  • Complete the nomination form by March 1

  • Submit the following to MAFP by March 1:
    • One letter of support from the nominee’s residency program director; if the residency program director is the nominator, please submit a letter of recommendation from another residency program faculty member
    • Curriculum vitae (optional at the time of nomination)
    • Professional headshot (optional at the time of nomination)
