Michigan Future of Family Medicine Student Conference & Residency Connection

Registration is now open!
Join medical students from across Michigan for a day of hands-on workshops, career exploration, and connections with family medicine residency programs.

This annual conference provides opportunities for medical students to explore the breadth and depth of the family medicine specialty. Highlights include discussions with family physicians and family medicine residency faculty; hands-on workshops for learning and practicing clinical procedures common in the family medicine outpatient setting; and two hours of dedicated time to connect with residency programs and other organizations that support medical students.

Career Options in Family Medicine Small Group Discussions
A career in family medicine provides opportunities for following one's special interests and passions, from addiction medicine to sports medicine to gender-affirming care. This provides long-term practice flexibility. Over the course of nearly two hours, participants rotate through small-group discussions led by practicing family physicians focused on subspecialties and special areas of interest.

Clinical Procedure Workshops
Hands-on workshops designed to introduce common outpatient procedures and clinical skills used in family medicine practice.

NEW: M4 Residency Interview Preparation Panel
Designed specifically for fourth-year students, this panel will provide practical insights on preparing for residency interviews, including what to expect, how to stand out, and tips directly from residents and program leaders.

12:30 – 2:30 pm
Residency Connection, Exhibits & Lunch
Michigan is home to 39 family medicine residency programs located in urban, suburban, and rural communities across the state. Connect with directors, faculty, and residents as you explore the best fit for your residency training. This is a prime opportunity for fourth-year medical students to get a “last look” before residency programs begin reviewing applications.
