Blaine Teahan is a third-year medical student at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine with a strong commitment to primary care and advocacy. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Community and Global Public Health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where he conducted research on tuberculosis vaccine candidates and epigenetic mechanisms in leukemia. 

Teahan served as co-president of the Family Medicine Interest Group and research coordinator for Spartan Street Medicine, where he worked to address health disparities among underserved populations. Passionate about public health and patient advocacy, Teahan is eager to learn and contribute to the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians as a student member. 

“Advocacy is and will remain essential to preserving adequate access to care for our patients and promoting the importance of primary care and family medicine,” he said. “Advocacy empowers the healing work of medicine.”
