Ashleigh Pratt, Student RepresentativeAshleigh Pratt, OMS-3 at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, has a passion for social justice and advocating for improved accessibility to social and medical resources for all individuals. Pratt’s undergraduate involvement in the executive boards of organizations such as Campus for Consent and Universities Allied for Essential Medicine highlights her ongoing dedication to addressing social issues and promoting equitable access to healthcare services. “Being an advocate requires you to filter your own personal beliefs to focus on the needs of the person(s) that you are advocating for, something that I have always held a passion for,” Pratt said. In addition to her academic pursuits, Pratt has demonstrated a commitment to community service through initiatives like Spartan Street Medicine, that provides healthcare services to homeless and disadvantaged populations. Pratt’s involvement in various outreach programs, from volunteering at local food pantries to serving on panels for prospective and current medical students, demonstrates her dedication to serving others. She has also served in several interest groups and programs including PIGS (Pediatric Interest Group), Obstetrics and Gynecology Interest Group (OBIGS), American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA), and AAFP. Pratt's academic achievements, including maintaining a place on the Dean's List and graduating cum laude, receiving a competitive campus-based research grant, and being awarded for excellence in collaborative research, highlight her tenacity in building a strong academic foundation and commitment to lifelong academic pursuit. When not in clinic or studying at a coffee shop, Pratt can be found chasing after her 2.5-year-old son, tending to their 5 pets, or simultaneously brainstorming and crafting her next project. She loves to read, write, and practice (especially hot!) yoga. |
