Serve on a Committee, Submit a Resolution Proposal

Michigan Academy of Family Physicians exists to support, represent, and advocate for the family medicine specialty. It is important that members, based on their expertise and insight, weigh in on Academy policies and activities. Two important opportunities are currently available for MAFP members (family physicians, family medicine residents, and medical students) to make their voices heard.

Serve on a Committee

MAFP and its philanthropic arm, Family Medicine Foundation of Michigan, rely on committees to support staff work in the areas of advocacy, member engagement, practice management, professional development, and student and resident education.

Committees are comprised of volunteers who meet virtually 3-4 times each year. Not only does this give members a voice it provides opportunities for networking, building relationships, gaining mentors, enhancing one’s CV, and getting the inside scoop on initiatives and issues impacting the practice of family medicine.

Submit a Resolution

A resolution is a formal written proposal or recommendation for MAFP to establish policy, address an issue of concern, eliminate a non-essential activity, or explore or implement a new program.

MAFP members are invited to submit resolutions for the membership to consider at the Annual Meeting. This year’s meeting is being held on Aug. 14, at Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, in conjunction with the 2023 Michigan Family Medicine Conference & Expo (Aug. 12-15). There is no cost to attend the Annual Meeting, where members receive a complimentary lunch.

Resolutions are due by June 21 to be considered at the Annual Meeting.
