MAFP Members Presentations Recognized at Michigan Family Medicine Research Day

The annual Michigan Family Medicine Research Day, hosted by the University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine, brought together family medicine physicians, residents, students, faculty, researchers, and healthcare professionals for a full day of scholarly presentations, discussion, and collaboration. This year’s event welcomed more than 160 attendees and featured 38 oral presentations and 39 poster presentations, highlighting the depth and breadth of research taking place across Michigan’s family medicine community. Presenters shared work focused on improving patient care, advancing clinical practice, supporting community health, and strengthening the future of family medicine.

Best Student Poster Presentation

  • Colonic Lymphangioma Presenting as Recurrent Hematochezia: A Case for Patient Education in Primary Care, presented by Christopher Dabish (Michigan State University)

Best Resident Oral Presentation (Tied)

  • Acquired Perforating Dermatosis in End-Stage Renal Disease: A Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenge, presented by Sandrine Kakieu Djossi (Honor Community Health)
  • Improving Approaches to Diagnosing and Treating ADHD: A Quality Improvement Initiative, presented by Yousif Slim (Wayne State University)

Best Resident Poster Presentation

  • Bell’s Palsy in Early Postpartum Period: A Primary Care Approach, presented by Swetha Aloori and Srija Kesireddy (Honor Community Health)
